In the presence of Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey, MD & CEO of Toyota Shri Masakazu Yoshimura, MD & CEO of Kirloskar Systems Limited Geetanjali Kirloskar, Ambassador, Diplomats from Japan Embassy, higher officials and advisors, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari unveiled the world’s first prototype of the BS 6 Stage II ‘Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle.
Shri Gadkari stated on the occasion that ethanol, as an indigenous, eco-friendly, and renewable fuel, holds significant prospects for India. According to him, the Modi administration’s emphasis on ethanol is in line with its goals to double farmers’ incomes, transfer them to Urjadata while still providing them with Annadata support, and have a favourable influence on the environment.
He asserted that agricultural growth will increase to 20% from the current 12% the day the ethanol industry reaches 2 lakh crores. Speaking of advancements in biofuels, Shri Gadkari mentioned an Indian Oil Corporation refinery in Numaligarh, Assam, where bamboo is being used to produce bio ethanol.
According to Shri Gadkari, this ground-breaking car is based on the Innova Hycross and was designed to adapt to India’s tighter emission regulations, making it the first BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel car prototype ever made in the world. According to him, this prototype will go through careful reworking, homologation, and certification procedures in the future stages.
