Nitin Gadkari inaugurates 3 NH projects worth Rs 3695 Crore in Washim, Maharashtra

Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, opened three National Highways (NH) projects in Washim, Maharashtra, totaling Rs. 3695 Crore.

In the past nine years, Washim district has built a 227 km highway network linking Vidarbha and Marathwada.

The four-lane National Highway 161, which connects Sanga reddy in Telangana with Akola in Maharashtra, plays a crucial role in fostering trade ties between the two states.

The 48 km long, Rs 1,259 crore first package of the highway from Akola to Medshi features four air pools, ten underpasses, and 85 culverts. It is divided into a total of three packages.

13 bus shelters, a 6-lane ROB, and a Washim city bypass are all part of the second package, which spans 45 km from Medshi to Washim and costs Rs 1,394 crore.

The main bridge over the Kayadhu river, Kalamanuri, and the Akhara-Balapur city bypass are also included in the third package, which covers the 42 km from Pangre to Warangafata and costs Rs 1042 crore.

The districts of Akola, Washim, Nanded, and Hingoli will now be connected to several significant locations. Religious and tourism destinations including Shegavche Gajanan Maharaj Temple, Akola Shahnoor Fort, Antriksh Jain Temple, Eighth Jyotirling Aundha-Naganath, Sant Namdev Maharaj Sansthan, Narsi, and Takht Sachkhand Gurudwara in Nanded would be simple to reach and easily accessible.

The Highway makes commercial prospects in Telangana and Maharashtra more accessible, which increases jobs.

In order to build Sadar National Highway 161 as part of the “Amrit Sarovar” project, ponds in Savargaon Barde, Jhodga Khurd, Chivra, Amani, Saikheda, or other villages were uncovered, and the soil and sand taken from them was utilised for the road’s construction.
