On September 6, Netaji’s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s primary membership.
“I have chosen to take this critical step on a significant date for the Bose family, which is the 134th birth anniversary of my grandfather Sarat Chandra Bose, the elder brother, mentor, and comrade-in-arms of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose,” Bose stated in his letter of resignation. Sarat and Subhas Bose, also known as the Bose Brothers, promoted an open-minded and secular ideology for an independent India.
He continued, “I joined the BJP in 2016 because of Shri Narendra Modi ji’s visionary leadership and extensive development agenda. My conversations at that time focussed on the Bose Brothers’ inclusive philosophy. I believed that I would use the BJP platform to spread this concept across the country, both at the time and since.
Additionally, it was decided to establish an Azad Hind Morcha within the BJP with the main goal of promoting Nataji’s philosophy of unifying all communities as Bharatiyas, regardless of religion, caste, and creed. This, in my opinion, is crucial for maintaining our nation’s unity and promoting inclusive progress that benefits every community.
Bose added, “My own ardent promotional efforts to achieve these laudable objectives have not received any support from the BJP, either at the Centre or at the state level in West Bengal,” in an effort to express his dismay. I had proposed a Bengal Strategy in a thorough presentation to reach out to the Bengali people. My suggestions were ignored.
He continued, “Given these unfortunate circumstances, it has become impossible for me to continue in all conscience as a member of the BJP.”
