The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has cut the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) test costs, which is expected to benefit NEET PG candidates significantly. The fees for all candidates are reduced by Rs 750. Following the fee adjustments, aspirants in the General and OBC categories will now be required to pay Rs 3,500, while candidates in the SC, ST, and PWD categories will pay Rs 2,500.
The fee change will take effect on January 1, 2024, and it is currently lower than the one paid by applicants in 2013.
In 2013, the application price for general and OBC categories was ₹3,750, which was increased to ₹4,250 in 2021 (current fee).
This has been reduced to ₹3,500 with effect from January 1, 2024.
In 2013, the application fee for SC, ST and PWD candidates was ₹2,750, which was raised to ₹3,250 in 2021. This has been reduced to ₹2,500 now.
In a letter dated January 5, 2024, president of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, Dr Abhijat Sheth stated that the NBEMS has decided to reduce the examination fee by Rs 750 for each candidate to benefit lakhs of candidates taking the NBEMS examinations.
Candidates submitting the application form for the forthcoming examination after January 1, 2024, will be given the benefit of the fee reduction, the letter stated.
