On Thursday, October 17, Nayab Singh Saini, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took his second oath as Haryana’s chief minister.
Bandaru Dattatreya, the governor of Haryana, administers the oath of office and confidentiality.
Alongside Saini, two Ministers of State (MoS) and eleven other ministers took an oath. Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Pawar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Shyam Singh Rana, Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Krishan Kumar Bedi, Shruti Choudhry, and Arti Singh Rao are among the ministers who took an oath of office. Two of the cabinet’s female ministers are Choudhry and Rao.
On this occasion, Rajesh Nagar and Gaurav Gautam both took the oath of office as MoS (Independent Charge).
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was represented by chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other top Bharatiya Janata Party officials who attended the oath-taking ceremony at Panchkula.
The Supreme Court previously denied a suit to halt Nayab Singh Saini’s inauguration as Haryana’s chief minister. The petitioner was cautioned of the possibility of a fine by the highest court, which noted that it cannot prevent an elected administration from taking an oath.
With the chief minister included, the Haryana government’s cabinet cannot consist of more than thirteen people.
