What exactly is manganese ore?
Manganese is a critical raw ingredient in the smelting of iron ore and the manufacture of ferroalloys. Manganese deposits can be discovered in almost any geological formation. It is, however, most closely related to the Dharwar system. Odisha is the country’s biggest manganese producer, with major mines centred in the central iron ore belt, notably in Bonai, Kendujhar, Sundergarh, Gangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Bolangir.
Manganese is a metal ferroalloy. It is a tough, heavy silvery metal. It is mined as ores and nodules on the deep bottom. Manganese ores are classified into two types: Pyrolusite and Psilomelane.
