Ministry of Education Clarifies Chandrayaan 3 Special Modules

The Ministry of Education has clarified that due to rapid advancements and notable milestones, it is crucial to equip teachers and students with knowledge beyond traditional textbooks. This endeavor aims to instill a sense of pride in the country and its accomplishments by extending curricular materials beyond textbooks and presenting the nation’s achievements in a captivating manner for the educational community.

The Ministry of Education has developed pedagogically enriched curricular resources spanning various themes, including Nari Shakti Vandan (Women’s Empowerment), COVID management, Sustainability, Bharat – the mother of democracy, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the success of Chandrayaan-3.

The initial theme chosen for the development of these special modules is Chandrayaan-3, with ten special modules on the mission offering a comprehensive overview of scientific, technological, cultural, and social aspects.

The content within these modules is thoughtfully designed to be interactive and engaging, featuring graphics, photographs, illustrations, activities, and challenging questions. They cater to students across grades 1 to 12, encouraging teachers to guide their students through the suggested pedagogy of experiential learning.

NCERT has acknowledged the significant role played by ISRO scientists, including Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Dr. S. Somnath, Dr. K. Sivan, and Ms. Nandini Harinath. Recognizing the Prime Minister’s commitment to space achievements can inspire students and motivate them to take an interest in science and technology.

Incorporating mythology and philosophy into education not only fosters a profound understanding of a nation’s historical legacy but also bolsters creativity and problem-solving skills among students. These modules, launched by the Hon’ble Education Minister in the presence of ISRO Chairman, aim to promote scientific temper and instill pride, inspiration, and understanding of India’s achievements among the educational community and the public.
