Star shooter Manu Bhaker, who created history by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Games, is set to be India’s flag bearer at the Olympic closing ceremony which is going to be held on Sunday 11 August.
Manu Bhaker enjoyed an extremely successful Paris Olympics campaign as she won two Bronze medals for India in Women’s 10m Air Pistol and Mixed 10m Air Pistol. In doing so, Manu Bhaker became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympics for Independent India.
Given Manu Bhaker’s historic performance at Paris Games, India Olympic Association (IOA) confirmed that the shooter will be India’s female flag bearer at the closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11th. Manu Bhaker was delighted at the honour of being India’s flag bearer and shared her gratitude to the world.
Manu Bhaker took it to X and wrote, “It is an honor and privilege to be named as India’s flag bearer for the Closing Ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Leading the outstanding Indian contingent with the tricolor in my hands with millions around the world watching is a truly humbling opportunity and one that I will cherish forever. I am grateful to The IOA for considering me worthy of this honor, and I look forward to raising the Indian flag with immense pride. Jai Hind!”
