Manu Bhaker Aims For Hat-trick Of Medals

Manu Bhaker will compete in the women’s 25m pistol solo event at the current Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday, hoping to win a hat-trick of medals. If she succeeds, she will be the first Indian athlete to win three medals in a single Olympics.

Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has become a sensation, capturing two bronze medals in both individual and team events at her second Olympic Games. The 22-year-old, who was unable to compete in the Tokyo Games due to an equipment malfunction, appears to be in top form, having made her country proud twice and being tipped to capture an unprecedented third out of three possible medals.

Manu Bhaker will compete for a third medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday. She will compete in the 25m Pistol individual event, which will begin at 1:00 PM IST. This would be her third consecutive final at the Paris Games, and she would be hoping to win a third medal in a row. If she wins gold, Manu Bhaker will become the first Indian to win three medals in a single Olympic Games. She has previously won medals in the 10-meter pistol individual and mixed team events.

The 22-year-old shooter earned a spot in the final after coming second in the qualification round on Friday. Another Indian shooter, Esha Singh, failed to meet expectations, finishing 13th. Manu scored 294 points in the accuracy round and 296 in the rapid stage, using 24 inner 10 rings.

Manu Bhaker will face the challenge from Hungary’s Major Veronika, Iran’s Rostamiyan Haniyeh, Vietnam’s Teinh Thu Vinh, USA’s Ablen Katelyn Morgan, Yang Jiin of Korea, Zhao Nan of China and Jedrejewski Camille in the summit round.
