In the last ten years, Manika Batra has become a big fan of Virat Kohli because she finds his Delhi persona very relatable. “It’s because of how he handles everything that happens to him and his passion for winning despite challenges. Plus, he really enjoys playing cricket,” Manika says.
Manika can’t easily remember the name of the motivational book she reads before every table tennis match. “It’s a fat book,” she says about the 280-page book that works like magic for her.
Though she is glamorous and keeps her personal life private, India’s most famous table tennis player is not trying to sound overly profound before the Paris Olympics. Her simple mantra, which she has followed for twenty years, is: “I know my dreams, so I wake up every day and work hard for them.”
