Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s Manali has converted the region into a winter wonderland while also causing severe inconveniences. Over 1,000 automobiles were trapped between Solang and the Atal Tunnel, trapping visitors in cold temperatures.
Police started a large-scale rescue operation and successfully relocated around 700 visitors to secure areas. The problem was exacerbated by the surge of visitors visiting for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Shimla, also coated in snow, has reignited expectations for a successful vacation season following substantial losses during the COVID-19 epidemic. Tourists arriving to the region were fascinated by the snow-covered hills, and many extended their vacations to soak up the wintry splendor. Some guests, such as Hemant and Pramod Yogi, expressed their delight at their first snowfall, calling it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The snow has also boosted local companies, notably in the hotel industry, which aims to benefit from the prolonged tourist season. The festive atmosphere and promise of a “White Christmas” have attracted travelers from all across the country, generating a stir in the region.
