MakeMyTrip is under fire for a controversial advertisement aimed at Pakistani fans who came to India to support their team during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The travel company released this ad in anticipation of the India vs. Pakistan match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, and it has been met with widespread criticism online.

The ad features an offer that many have deemed insensitive and in poor taste. It reads, “AN OPEN INVITATION TO PAKISTANI FANS.” Following a brief introduction, the ad goes on to state, “If Pakistan loses by: 10 wickets or 200 runs, get 50% off. Use code: BoysPlayedWell. 6 wickets or 100 runs, get 30% off. Use code: EkShaheenHaar. 3 wickets or 50 runs, get 10% off. Use code: NoMaukaMauka.”

This ad prompted a swift and strong reaction from social media users, with many expressing their discontent with MakeMyTrip’s approach. Former Indian cricket player Virender Sehwag also shared his thoughts on the ad.

It’s important to note that this ad has generated controversy due to its insensitivity and the timing of its release, especially given the historic India vs. Pakistan cricket match taking place today at 2 pm.
