Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam will host this renowned celebration. This magnificent celebration, which has a long history in India, provides followers with a special chance to atone for their transgressions and pursue Moksha, or freedom.
Maha Kumbh Mela: A Brief History
The legend of Samudra Manthan, or the churning of the ocean, is connected to the beginnings of the Kumbh Mela. Hindu texts claim that four sites—Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain—were made sacred when drips of the nectar of immortality fell there. The Kumbh Mela is held periodically in each of these places, depending on certain astrological alignments.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is deeply rooted in Hindu beliefs, symbolising a time for spiritual rejuvenation and purification. During the festival, the alignment of planets is believed to amplify the spiritual energy of the location, making it an auspicious period for religious practices.
