Zoya Akhtar’s highly acclaimed series, Made in Heaven, is finally returning with its second season after a four-year hiatus. While the show was a massive OTT success in 2019, the long gap between seasons raised questions about sustaining the audience’s interest. In a recent interview, Zoya shed light on the reasons behind the delay and the challenges they faced.
According to Zoya, the production of the show was initially affected by the pandemic, which disrupted the momentum for the entire world. This uncertainty led the team to worry about the audience’s interest and whether they would return for the second season. Despite their concerns, the makers decided to put their best effort into the show and hoped that the audience would come back.
Reflecting on the love and appreciation received for the first season, Zoya explained that they focused on making the writing for the second season deeper and more layered. They wanted the show to scale up in an organic manner, which required significant time investment in the writing process.
However, as they were about to commence shooting for the new season, the pandemic forced them to halt production multiple times. The restrictions on set sizes and simultaneous shutdowns of other productions made it particularly challenging for Made in Heaven, given its large cast.
Nevertheless, the wait is finally over for fans, and the highly anticipated second season of Made in Heaven is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 10. With Zoya Akhtar’s vision and the remarkable performances from the cast, viewers can expect another captivating and enthralling experience from this iconic series.
