Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Partner for Hindi Adaptation of French Classic

In a powerful cinematic reunion, Karan Johar and Guneet Monga have officially set the stage for the Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed French classic ‘The Intouchables.’ This collaboration marks their fourth joint venture after the remarkable success of ‘KILL,’ which captured international attention at the Toronto International Film Festival last month.

Directed by the talented Collin D’Cunha, this forthcoming project emerges from a broader creative partnership that was initially unveiled in May 2023, uniting Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions with Guneet Monga Kapoor’s Sikhya Entertainment.

‘The Intouchables,’ originally released in 2011 and directed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, received widespread acclaim for its heartwarming story and the exceptional performances of François Cluzet and Omar Sy in the leading roles. The Hindi adaptation seeks to recapture the enchantment of the original while infusing it with elements that resonate deeply with Indian viewers.

In his response to this exciting venture, Karan Johar conveyed his enthusiasm, remarking, “Taking on ‘The Intouchables’ represents a creative challenge and a thrilling opportunity. We are resolute in our commitment to convey the essence of this beloved French classic to the Indian audience, weaving in our own cultural sensibilities. The prospect of collaborating once more with Guneet is truly thrilling, and I have every confidence that this project will touch the hearts of audiences across the nation.”

Sharing her excitement, Guneet Monga Kapoor stated, ” ‘The Intouchables’ is iconic and globally celebrated. Bringing it to the Indian and Hindi-speaking audience is exceptionally exciting. Following the high-octane, action-packed ‘KILL,’ we are venturing into dramedy, showcasing the diversity of our collaboration with Dharma, and we are immensely eager to embark on this journey!”

Directed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, ‘The Intouchables’ achieved universal acclaim for its heartwarming story and the remarkable performances by François Cluzet and Omar Sy in pivotal roles.

The coming together of Karan Johar and Guneet Monga promises to bring a fresh wave of creativity and cultural resonance to this timeless tale, which continues to inspire audiences around the world. As this highly anticipated project unfolds, film enthusiasts can look forward to an enthralling cinematic experience that transcends borders and touches hearts.
