JMI and DU to Close for Half Day on Jan 22 for Ram Temple Consecration

The Jamia Millia Islamia and its schools, as well as Delhi University, will be closed for a half-day till 2.30 p.m. on January 22 due to the dedication of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

According to official announcements issued by these universities on Friday, the varsities, as well as their institutions, centers, and offices, will observe a half-day on Monday.

On the other hand, Jamia will hold all of its regularly planned exams and meetings.

The interviews/selection committees/examination practicals scheduled for the day at Delhi University will also proceed according to the timetable already announced by the relevant faculty department, as stated in the DU announcement.

“The Officiating Vice-Chancellor, JMI, in view of the Government of India vide Office Memorandum F.No 12/7/2023 JCA government of India has approved that the university and its maintained institutions/centres/offices including Jamia schools shall remain closed for half day till 2.30 pm on January 22, 2024 on account of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya,” the notification by JMI said.

A similar notification was issued by Delhi University and posted on its website.

All central government offices around the nation will be closed for a half-day on January 22, according to a Personnel Ministry decree.

The Ram temple’s sanctuary sanctorum will host the ‘pran pratishtha’ event on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present for the occasion.
