Fast internet has become a necessity for people to continue working, from UPI to the digitization of government infrastructure. However, cable fibre networks are not always available, and mobile networks are frequently unreliable. Therefore, in September 2023, Jio finally launched Jio AirFiber to assist customers in getting faster wireless connections.
Jio AirFiber is a wireless internet service provider that offers 5G internet connectivity at fast speeds. It is made to satisfy the demands of high-speed broadband, smart home services, and home entertainment. In addition to providing rates up to 1 Gbps, it offers speeds similar to those of conventional fiber-optic connections.
Jio says that Jio AirFiber is comparable to wireless 4G dongles but offers further advantages including 5G speeds that are comparable to broadband. Plans with speeds of 30Mbps, 100Mbps, 150Mbps, 300Mbps, 500Mbps, and 1Gbps are available to users.
Jio is rolling out the AirFiber service nationwide. However, as of the initial launch, the service is available in only eight cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.
How to book Jio Airfiber connection
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to book a JioAirfiber connection:
- Check availability. Go to the Jio website, My Jio app, or contact Jio customer support to check if Jio AirFiber is available in your area.
- Initiate booking. You can book a new connection by giving a missed call to 60008-60008, visiting the Jio website or My Jio app, or visiting your nearest Jio Store.
- Register for Jio AirFiber. Provide the required details to complete the registration process.
- Await confirmation. Jio will contact you when the services become available in your building or location.
- Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive your Jio AirFiber connection, which includes a WiFi router, 4K Smart Set-Top Box, and a voice-activated remote. An outdoor unit will also be installed on your terrace/rooftop or outside your home.
Note that there is no additional charge for the new connection offered by Jio. However, if you choose an annual subscription, the firm will waive the Rs 1,000 installation service fee. In order to retain the advantages of an annual plan, users can also choose to make monthly payments using credit/debit card-based EMI.
Plans for JioAirfiber
Since Jio AirFiber launched, the firm has released six AirFiber plans, all of which include high-speed internet and extra services. There are two different types of Jio AirFiber plans: AirFiber and AirFiber Max plans.
Jio AirFiber plans: Under this category, Jio presents three plans with price points of Rs 599, Rs 899, and Rs 1199, respectively. These plans provide internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps, in addition to extra perks such as access to over 550 digital channels and 14 OTT apps. The Rs 1199 plan even includes complimentary subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and JioCinema Premium.
Jio AirFiber Max plans: Within this category, Jio offers three plans priced at Rs 1499, Rs 2499, and Rs 3999, respectively. These plans provide blazing internet speeds of up to 1Gbps and a range of additional benefits, including access to over 550 digital channels and 14 OTT apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and JioCinema Premium. Notably, Jio AirFiber Max will be available in select areas.
