Jharkhand Elections: MS Dhoni Appointed as Brand Ambassador

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former captain of the Indian cricket team, has been appointed as Jharkhand’s brand ambassador for the upcoming assembly elections, according to Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.

Dhoni has granted the Election Commission permission to use his image in campaign materials aimed at encouraging voter participation

“Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given permission to the Election Commission to use his photograph. We’re in touch with him for more information. Mahendra Singh Dhoni would work to mobilize votes,” Kumar stated during a press conference in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Friday.

Dhoni’s involvement is expected to bolster voter awareness under the SWEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) program, with the commission aiming to leverage his popularity to boost turnout.

A total of forty-three constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on November 13. The filing of nominations was completed on Friday, with former Chief Minister Champai Soren filing his nomination as BJP candidate from Saraikela. All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party president and former deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sudesh Mahato filed his nomination from the Silli assembly constituency.

The JMM released its first list of 35 candidates for the polls on October 23, while the BJP announced its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand assembly elections on October 19. The ruling JMM-led alliance will contest 68 seats, with AJSU 10 seats, JD-U two seats, and LJP one seat. Results will be declared on November 23.
