Jasmine Bhasin’s Contact Lens Mishap: What Went Wrong and How to Protect Your Eyes

Jasmine Bhasin suffered corneal damage after wearing contact lenses at an event in Delhi. Here’s what happened and some important tips to keep your eyes safe.

Jasmine was in Delhi for work and wore contact lenses to an event. She started feeling pain in her eyes but decided to continue with her commitments, wearing sunglasses to help. However, her vision got worse, and she eventually couldn’t see at all.

Her team assisted her, and later that night, she visited an eye specialist. The doctor diagnosed her with corneal damage and bandaged her eyes.

Jasmine, who is 34 years old, will need about four to five days to recover and still has trouble seeing properly.

On Sunday afternoon, she posted an update on Instagram, saying, “Better now and recovering. Thank you for your love and blessings.”

Jasmine’s experience highlights the importance of following proper contact lens care. Here are some dos and don’ts:

Dos:

  1. Maintain Good Hygiene:
    • Always wash your hands thoroughly before putting on or taking off your contact lenses.
    • Never sleep with your contact lenses on.
  2. Rinse with Contact Lens Solution:
    • After removing your lenses, rinse them with a contact lens solution.
    • Change the contact lens solution daily, even if you haven’t used the lenses.
  3. Wear Contact Lenses Before Makeup:
    • Put on your contact lenses before applying makeup.
    • Remove your lenses only after you’ve taken off your makeup.

Don’ts:

  1. Avoid Sleeping with Contact Lenses:
    • Never sleep while wearing your contact lenses as it can lead to serious eye infections.
  2. Don’t Use Water to Rinse Lenses:
    • Always use contact lens solution, never water, to rinse your lenses.
  3. Be Careful with Eye Makeup:
    • Avoid applying glitter or eyeliner on the inside rim of your eyes.

Following these tips can help prevent corneal damage and keep your eyes healthy.
