Filmmaker James Cameron recently spoke out about rumors circulating regarding his involvement in an OceanGate film. Despite usually refraining from responding to “offensive rumors,” Cameron decided to break his silence on the matter. Taking to Instagram, he clarified that he is not currently involved in any film project related to OceanGate.

Cameron stated, “I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now.” He made it clear that he is not in talks about an OceanGate film and will not be involved in one in the future.

The tragic implosion of the OceanGate sub during a dive to the Titanic wreck, which resulted in the loss of all five individuals on board, has garnered significant attention. The vessel was reported missing on June 18, and on June 22, the US Coast Guard confirmed that it had experienced a catastrophic implosion, ending a high-profile rescue operation. James Cameron has previously expressed concerns about the hull design of the sub and its potential risks.

“I thought it was a horrible idea. I wish I’d spoken up, but I assumed somebody was smarter than me,” Cameron revealed in an interview with news agency Reuters. Despite not having personal experience with the technology, he instinctively felt that it was a flawed concept.

Cameron also highlighted the striking similarities between the Titanic sinking and the OceanGate sub implosion. He noted that both incidents occurred at the same location and involved unheeded warnings. The renowned director expressed shock at these parallels.
