This is the SSLV’s third and last test flight, marking the end of its development period. ISRO Chairman S Somanath verified that the rocket operated well, deploying the satellite precisely where expected. With this result, ISRO believes the SSLV is ready for regular use and intends to transfer its technology to industry for mass manufacture.
ISRO chief S Somanath added that there were no deviations in the injection conditions. “The final orbit will be known after tracking but the current indication is that everything is perfect. The EOS-08 satellite as well as SR-08 satellite has also been injected after manoeuvres,” he added.
ISRO built the small vehicle, which can only take up to 500 kg to space, with the goal of commercializing it.
The vehicle is only 2 meters in diameter and 34 meters long. To place small and micro satellites in orbit, it uses three solid fuel-based stages and a final liquid-fuel-based stage to adjust the velocity.
Capabilities and Applications
The EOS-08 is equipped with advanced imaging technology, allowing it to capture images in both Mid-Wave and Long-Wave infrared bands. This capability enables the satellite to function effectively during day and night, serving various critical applications:

- Environmental Monitoring: Tracking changes in ecosystems and environmental conditions
- Fire Detection: Early warning and monitoring of wildfires
