According to reports, multiple explosions occurred in Tehran, indicating the initial wave of attacks. More than an hour later, Israeli Channel 12 reported that dozens of fighter jets had launched fresh strikes on Shiraz. There were no early reports of casualties.
According to an Israeli statement, “In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran.” They highlighted Israel’s “right and duty” to respond to Iranian aggression.
This latest round of strikes follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s commitment to retaliate after Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1. Iran claimed its attack was in response to Israeli operations targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, a key proxy group that the U.S. designates as a terrorist organization.
