Tel Aviv issued a warning for Israelis residing in India, especially in New Delhi, stating that there’s a chance the explosion close to the Israeli embassy in Delhi is an act of terror. Israelis are advised not to go to crowded locations like markets and malls, especially ones that are frequented by members of the community. They are also asked to “avoid externalizing Israeli symbols” and be vigilant.
“Avoid taking part in large-scale, unsafe events involving a lot of people. The advice advises against sharing trip information on social media and instead to share images and information about visits both in before and during the trip.
A blast took place last evening near the Israel embassy in Chanakyapuri. Officials said nobody was injured in the incident. An “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found near the site, they added.
Teams from the forensics department, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and unlawful division of the Delhi Police hurried to the scene shortly after the explosion.
A National Investigation Agency team also looked over the scene.
Guy Nir, the spokesperson for the Israeli embassy, reported that the explosion happened at 5:48 p.m. “Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation,” he stated.
Deputy Chief of Mission (Israel) Ohad Nakash Kaynar said, “All our diplomats and workers are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with local Delhi security and they will investigate the matter further.”
According to reports, the one-page letter was sent for forensic analysis to look for fingerprints.
