Iran activated its air defense system above Tehran on Saturday in response to the intensifying Israeli attacks. Iran’s state media agency, IRNA, reported that Iranian defenses responded to “adversarial targets” identified in the airspace over Tehran province.
Iranian official media reported six powerful explosion-like noises, but their sources were unknown. It further said, citing a statement from an Iranian military officer, that air defense systems were used to counter strikes in three distinct places around Tehran. According to an IRNA source, the loud sounds recorded were caused by air defense action in Tehran, and the system worked properly during the incident.

The Israel Defence Force (IDF) confirmed early in the morning of Saturday that its military had launched “precise strikes” on Iranian military sites, around a month after Tehran launched around 200 ballistic missiles towards Israel. The Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Danial Hagari said in a statement, “Right now, the Israel Defence Force is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran.”

“I would like to inform you at this late hour that the IDF is currently conducting precision strikes against military targets in Iran. The IDF also noted that the Iranian regime and its allies have continuously targeted Israel on multiple fronts since October 7, adding that Israel upholds its right to protect itself. The IDF stressed that both its defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized to defend Israel and its citizens.

According to TPS News, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari acknowledged in an official statement that Israel had launched a series of strikes on Iran.
According to the TPS news site, this attack is a response to Iran’s missile strike on October 1. It further stated that the White House confirmed early Saturday that Israel is undertaking targeted strikes against Iranian military activities in exercise of its right to self-defense.
This development adds to the continuing tensions in West Asia, which have been growing since Hamas committed a devastating terror strike against Israel on October 7.
