Early on July 4th, Team India’s special flight landed in New Delhi at 6:05 AM, marking the triumphant return of the T20 World Cup champions. Despite facing delays in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, the BCCI arranged a dedicated flight, named AIC24WC (AirIndia Champions24WorldCup), to bring the heroes of Indian cricket safely back home.
During the 16-hour-long flight, celebrations continued unabated, with cheers echoing through the cabin as the team savored their victory. Upon touchdown, a warm welcome greeted them with an announcement declaring “Welcome home World Champions.”
Next on their agenda is a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO house in Delhi around 9:30 AM. Following this, the team will fly to Mumbai for further celebrations.
In Mumbai, a kilometer-long open bus victory parade is planned, starting from Marine Drive and culminating at Wankhede Stadium. The day will conclude with a ceremony honoring the team’s remarkable achievement after an 11-year trophy drought.
