Indian passport holders with UK, US, and Schengen visas have received encouraging news regarding the Saudi e-visa application process. Saudi Tourism Authority’s (Asia Pacific) President, Alhasan Aldabbagh, shared insights in an exclusive interview with TOI, unveiling simplified procedures for Indians interested in visiting Saudi Arabia.
Streamlined E-Visa Application
Indian travelers with valid UK, US, and Schengen visas can now conveniently apply for Saudi e-visas. With the establishment of nine VFS Tasheel Visa offices across India and the introduction of a 96-hour stopover visa, potential visitors can access secure administrative services to initiate their journey in exploring Saudi Arabia. This enhancement aims to facilitate millions of visitors in experiencing the country’s diverse attractions.
Rising Interest in Saudi Arabia: With approximately 1 million Indian tourists visiting Saudi Arabia annually, the nation has witnessed significant growth from the Indian market. Alhasan Aldabbagh envisions surpassing 1 million Indian visitors by 2030, encompassing various categories such as leisure, cultural exploration, heritage appreciation, and adventure pursuits.
Focus on Umrah Visits and Beyond
As the demand for Umrah visits increases, Saudi Arabia anticipates welcoming over 1 million Indian pilgrims by 2025. To transition from being solely recognized as a pilgrim destination to a sought-after tourist spot, Indian travelers are projected to contribute to 20% of outbound journeys in 2022.
Strategic Outreach
Acknowledging India as a pivotal growth market, Saudi Arabia plans to quadruple visiting numbers in 2023 and aims to welcome over 12 million Indian tourists by 2030. Alhasan Aldabbagh emphasized collaborative efforts with the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) to create seasonal campaigns and tailored promotional packages, positioning Saudi Arabia as the ultimate leisure destination for Indian tourists.
The eased visa application process for Indians with UK, US, and Schengen visas is a significant step towards enhancing tourism between India and Saudi Arabia. With tailored campaigns, simplified procedures, and a focus on diverse attractions, Saudi Arabia aims to solidify its position as a preferred destination for Indian travelers, catering to a wide spectrum of interests and preferences.
