India is set to send a team of 117 athletes to the Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11. This is India’s second-largest group at the Olympics, just behind the 121 athletes who went to Tokyo in 2021. Out of the 117 athletes, 47 are women and 70 are men.

Largest Representations

– Athletics: The biggest group comes from track and field with 29 athletes.
– Shooting: The second-largest group is the shooters with 21 athletes.

Individual Representatives

– Weightlifting: Mirabai Chanu, who won a silver medal in the 2021 Tokyo Games, is the sole representative.
– Equestrian, Judo, Rowing: Each of these sports will have only one athlete representing India.

Support Staff

For the first time, India will have nearly an equal number of athletes and support staff members. There will be 67 coaches and 72 other support staff members traveling with the athletes.

Indian Olympics Association’s Statement

The Indian Olympics Association (IOA) President emphasized that athletes are now at the center of their planning and preparations. This is evident from the new ratio of athletes to support staff, which has been improved to slightly better than 1:1 from the usual 3:1.
