The Indian Army neutralized two militants during an infiltration attempt in Uri, north Kashmir, days after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam claimed 26 lives.
Two militants were killed in a gunfight after the army thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Uri sector of north Kashmir on Sunday. This incident follows a deadly attack in Pahalgam, located in Anantnag district, where 26 people—mostly tourists—lost their lives just a day earlier.
The army continues to conduct search operations in the area, looking for any additional infiltrators. On Tuesday, 25 tourists and a local pony handler were killed in a terrorist attack at the Pahalgam tourist resort in south Kashmir.
According to a post by the Chinar Corps on X, “There was a heavy exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists. Two terrorists have been neutralized and the infiltration attempt has been foiled. A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like materials has been recovered.”
The operation began early Wednesday morning when army personnel detected a group of militants attempting to cross into the Valley via a stream in the Uri sector of Baramulla district. Upon being challenged, the infiltrators opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the troops, which resulted in the deaths of two militants.
“On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI (unidentified) terrorists tried to infiltrate through general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla, the alert troops on LC (Line of Control) challenged and intercepted them resulting in a firefight,” Army said.
