Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified as the Pakistan Army opened fire across the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pargwal Sector—marking the first such incident since the Pahalgam terror attack. Officials also reported continued ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) for the sixth straight night, with small arms fire initiated in Baramulla and Kupwara. The Indian Army responded swiftly and appropriately to each provocation.
According to defence sources, Pakistan's ceasefire violations were previously limited to the LoC, but they have now extended to the international border. The latest incidents included firing in Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors. Pakistan has engaged in nightly violations since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 civilians were killed after being identified by their religion in Baisaran meadow.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, vowing retaliation, chaired high-level meetings with military chiefs and key Cabinet bodies. He also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and revoked Pakistani visas. In a notable meeting, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat visited the PM, pledging full support for the government's response.
