India Maintains Unbeaten Test record against Bangladesh, Pulls of the Series

India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets with 45 overs still left on the last Day of 2nd Test match played in Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. With this win India clean sweeped the Test series by 2-0 and continued to maintain winning streak against Bangladesh in Tests. India showed its top notch performance as this series witnessed many remarkable records for the team. Bangladesh’s first face-off with India in Tests took place in December 2000, since then they played 15 matches against India but they are unable to beat India yet in the red ball game.

The second test match of the two match series started on 27th September in Green Park Stadium, Kanpur and lasted on 1st October with India’s great victory.

Yashasvi Jaiswal struck a magnificent half-century as India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets after chasing down a small target of 95 in 17.2 overs. With that, India secured a 2-0 series whitewash against Bangladesh, boosting their prospects of reaching the ICC World Test Championship final. Jaiswal scored 51 from 45 balls in his 2nd inning.

This came after Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin shared nine wickets as India bowled out Bangladesh for 146, cutting their lead to 94 runs. India’s effort for a win in the rain-shortened second Test paid off effectively, as they outperformed Bangladesh despite losing two days to rain and a damp outfield.

India’s victory was powered by excellent performances all around, with Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja combining to bowl out Bangladesh twice in a short time. Then they took an aggressive approach with the bat, with Rohit Sharma leading from the front. Jaiswal scored two fifties, and KL Rahul hit a half-century as well.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s impressive performance with both bat and ball in the series won him the Player of the Series award. The all-rounder had a tally of 11 wickets and 114 runs from the two matches that saw him win the coveted award for the 11th time in his Test career.

While Yashaswi Jaiswal was awarded with the Player of the Match title for his outstanding total of 123 runs in two innings.
