Independence Day 2024: Who Are Modi’s Special Guests at Red Fort?

On August 15, 2024, India will mark its 78th Independence Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the first PM after Pandit Nehru to accomplish the accomplishment, will address the country for the eleventh time in a row from the famous Red Fort’s ramparts.

In 2024, New Delhi, the nation’s capital, will host over 4,000 distinguished visitors for its Independence Day celebrations.

According to sources cited by The Indian Express, special guests invited by the Center for the 2024 Independence Day celebrations include farmers, youth, women, and the poor—all of whom PM Modi referred to as the “four pillars of a developed India” during his first visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, after winning reelection in June.

Indian Independence Day Celebrations

  • Special guests expected to arrive in Delhi on August 14, visit the National War Memorial, and meet senior ministers.
  • 11 categories of guests invited: Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Youth Affairs, Women and Child Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Tribal Affairs, School Education and Literacy, Health and Family Welfare and Sports, and Niti Aayog.
  • 150 students of Eklavya Model Residential Schools, 100 tribal artisans, Van Dhan Vikas Yojana members, and 50 tribal entrepreneurs also invited.
  • A report by India Today suggests the Indian contingent of the 2024 Paris Olympics will also be invited.
  • At least 18,000 e-invitations sent for the 78th Independence Day celebrations.
