Imperial College London Unveils Largest Scholarship Program for Indian Students

On Wednesday, Imperial College London revealed a new scholarship scheme for Indian students, designed to develop the best Master’s scholars in the nation over the course of the following three years. The esteemed Imperial College in the United Kingdom will provide equal funding to male and female learners as part of its Future Leaders Scholarship initiative.

This announcement comes after Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, made the college a visit earlier this year.

Vice-provost for education and student experience at Imperial College London Professor Peter Haynes said, “We are delighted to launch our biggest-ever scholarship programme for Indian scientists, reaffirming our commitment to attract the very best students from all backgrounds and support them to flourish.”

“The Future Leaders Scholarship will build a pathway for the most talented students in India to deepen their studies and expand their experiences at one of the world’s top universities,” he said.

In addition, the university recently inked a new agreement with the UK government’s Chevening Scholarships programme, which will finance the education of three more Indian Master’s scholars throughout the following three years. This award is available to students seeking Master’s degrees in engineering, the natural sciences, business, and medical research in addition to paying the entire cost of tuition and living expenses.

“Our longstanding partnership with the prestigious Chevening Scholarships programme is a vital collaboration that helps us to open the doors of opportunity to exceptional students from India,” continued Professor Haynes, who is currently in India. The announcements were made while a group from the institution visited the British Council in New Delhi, where alumni and potential students were present.

Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, said, “As one of the most prestigious universities in the world, Imperial’s new scholarships have created an opportunity for aspiring and talented young Indians to study in the UK and get access to world-class education.”

The Future Leaders Scholarship will be awarded to all students who have applied to study at Imperial College London and who, by May 11, 2024, get an offer to enrol. Applications for Imperial College London’s Chevening Scholarship collaboration are due by November 7 of this year.
