In order to cultivate a collaborative culture that offers students exposure, mentorship, and experience, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Airbus will intensify their cooperation in creating educational programmes, with an emphasis on research to support the development of talent in the Indian aerospace industry.
On September 1, 2023, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, the director of IIT Kanpur at the time, and Rémi Maillard, the president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organization’s.
As part of the partnership, the two organization’s will support cutting-edge technology research and create initiatives and projects that will improve the technical proficiency of Indian aerospace students.
Both institutions will also look into joint ventures with international organisations where students can work on industry-related initiatives. The cooperation seeks to establish a collaborative culture that offers IIT-K students exposure, mentorship, and priceless experience. The country’s aerospace industry will flourish thanks to the synergies produced by these opportunities for cross-skilling.
Prof S Ganesh, officiating director, IIT Kanpur, stated, “This collaboration with Airbus Group is a significant step and certain to enhance the industry experience of aerospace engineering students at the institute.”
