IIT Delhi’s Abu Dhabi Campus to Offer Courses

IIT Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus will introduce two undergraduate programmes starting in the new academic session beginning in September, as announced by Director Rangan Banerjee on Thursday.

The offshore campus, established in 2023, has so far offered only postgraduate courses.

The new undergraduate programs being launched are Computer Science Engineering and Energy Engineering.

A total of 60 students will be admitted to the two new undergraduate programs. This includes 20 students who have qualified for JEE (Advanced) 2024 and 40 selected through a new entrance exam known as the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET), Banerjee announced during a press conference.

He said that of the 40 seats that would be filled through CAET, 20 are set aside for citizens of the United Arab Emirates, and the remaining 20 are for foreign students and expats living in the country, including Indian expatriates.

Banerjee further stated that the Abu Dhabi campus actively interacts with partners and industry around the Gulf and the United Arab Emirates. Initiatives related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and research should start soon.

IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi is aiming to establish a permanent campus. At the moment, faculty members are being allocated to the Abu Dhabi school from the Delhi campus through a selection procedure that has been authorized by the board.

In due course, faculty recruitment for the Abu Dhabi campus will take place, adhering to IIT Delhi’s recruitment standards and processes. This will ensure that the quality of education at the Abu Dhabi campus matches the high standards established at the Delhi campus, as noted by Banerjee.
