The establishment of a “India-Japan Study and Research Centre” has been approved by the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode with the goal of boosting management education and research capabilities in certain areas of shared interest between the two nations.
The plan, according to Debashis Chatterjee, the IIMK’s newly reappointed director, will allow for the transfer of information and skills in fields of shared interest, encouraging research partnerships and student exchange programmes with other Japanese institutions of higher learning. Through research, training, and other management development activities, this will also foster understanding of India and Japan.
As a visiting professor to advise IIMK on Centre activities, Rajib Shaw of Keio University in Japan has been appointed. He stated, “The Centre will have enormous potential to contribute not only to two of our countries, but it can also serve beyond bilateral partnership in producing and executing new innovation”.
With over 50 foreign universities, IIM Kozhikode has continuous partnerships and collaborations for student exchange courses that emphasise global immersion. IIM Kozhikode has given itself the institutional goal of “Globalising Indian Thought” and seeks to deepen its academic links with other nations through research and teaching in order to support future educational and research endeavours that would be beneficial to both collaborating parties.
