On November 21, 2024, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Department of Skill Education, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Committee on Career Counseling, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Enhancing commerce-based skill classes for students nationwide is the partnership’s goal.
The Indian Institute of Commerce and Industry (ICAI) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are partnering to advance commerce-oriented skills, particularly in the BFSI sector. The primary focus is on enhancing students’ employability through specialized courses developed to meet industry demands.
ICAI will provide expert inputs on course content, syllabus development, study materials, training modules, and career guidance. The Institute will also conduct enrichment activities and participate in workshops and training sessions organized by CBSE, focusing on sensitizing educators and students about career opportunities in accountancy and related fields.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional requirements, opening new avenues for students to pursue rewarding careers in accountancy and finance.
ICAI and CBSE will jointly conduct awareness programmes targeting school principals, teachers, and management teams of CBSE-affiliated schools across India. CBSE will also organize capacity-building initiatives for teachers of commerce-related subjects.
The Institute has entered into 85 MoUs with various universities, colleges, and educational organizations to foster academic excellence, research innovation, and knowledge exchange.
