On Monday night, residents of Hyderabad’s Venkatadri Nagar, which is close to the Jeedimetla Industrial Estate, were startled when crimson water poured out of a manhole and filled the streets. The overwhelming stink from the spill made it difficult for many individuals to breathe and raised health concerns.
Locals claim that industrial facilities are to blame for the catastrophe since they reportedly released dangerous chemicals into the drainage system. The allegations were backed up by the owners of adjacent warehouses, who said that several firms were habitually pouring rubbish down public sewers.
To assess the situation, representatives from the Telangana Pollution Control Board (TPCB) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) traveled to the region. Authorities promised locals that the source of the chemical spill would be found and that those responsible would face harsh consequences.
Samples of the liquid have been sent for analysis, with preliminary reports pointing to industrial waste contamination.
This event comes after a truck driver was stopped by people in Bapughat from disposing of industrial garbage in the Musi River. Locals demanded more stringent enforcement of pollution control measures and voiced their dissatisfaction over recurring infractions.
Alert locals near the Ram Temple stopped the tanker, which was marked “Hydrochloric Acid.” The driver acknowledged receiving orders to dump the chemicals into the river. The car was then confiscated by police, who are now looking into who was responsible for the unlawful action.
