A Blue Aadhaar Card (Baal Aadhaar Card) is an Aadhaar card distributed to children under the age of five. It is blue in color and valid till the kid reaches the age of five, distinguishing it from standard Aadhaar cards for adults. After that, they must update their biometric information, which may be done at any Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
How does the Blue Aadhaar Card work?
The child’s biometric data is not necessary for card issuance, and the UID is processed using demographic information and an image connected to the parent’s UID.
Who can apply for Blue Aadhaar Card?
Parents can apply for Baal Aadhaar for a newborn using the birth certificate or the discharge slip of the hospital. Children’s school ID can also be used for the Baal Aadhaar card.
Why Blue Aadhaar card is important?
The card helps in securing government assistance programmes and helps in the provision of EWS scholarships. Many schools have also mandated the presentation of Blue Aadhaar cards during the admission process.
How to register for Blue Aadhaar card?
- Visit the UIDAI website and choose the Aadhaar card registration option.
- Enter the child’s name, the parent/guardian’s phone number and select an appointment slot for registration.
- Book an appointment at the nearest enrollment centre and visit the enrollment centre with documents including your Aadhaar card, address proof and the child’s birth certificate.
- After this the document verification process starts.
- The Blue Aadhaar card will be issued in your child’s name within 60 days of verification.
