Haryana Government Plans to Open 4,000 More Play-Way Schools in Next Two Years

In the next two years, the Haryana government plans to open 4,000 more play-way schools, the state’s chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated on Saturday.

During an audio conference with parents of children enrolled in the state’s play-way schools, Khattar stated that the ambitious plan to expand the number of play-way schools in the state is in line with the New Education Policy-2020, which aims to foster the cognitive and intellectual development of children between the ages of 3-6. “Around 40,000 students are currently studying in these schools,”  Khattar continued.

“One of the central objectives of this initiative is to ensure that quality education is accessible to children from all socio-economic backgrounds. I am happy that at present these play-way schools are providing educational opportunities to approximately 40,000 children. However, now we have planned to open an additional 4,000 schools within the next two years. To facilitate this expansion, 2,500 suitable locations have already been identified,” Khattar said.

In response to the ideas made by the parents during the interaction, the CM gave the officers instructions to make sure that play schools with a large number of children had suitable rooms available.

Additionally, he instructed officers to transform anganwadis into play-way schools if necessary.

The CM also instructed the deputy commissioners to carry out an extensive assessment of the play-way schools in their various districts in order to gather information on the facilities, resources, and needs. This information would then be used to make decisions about the required renovations and room allotments.

Khattar mentioned that a recent assessment by the state government found that children’s linguistic skills had advanced noticeably, but that there was still a gap in their mathematics ability between the ages of three and five. The current state administration is responding by focusing efforts on enhancing mathematics abilities in this age range.

He stated that an annual survey will be done to track success and make data-driven adjustments.
