Gurugram Police arrested a 24-year-old man from Gujarat, identified as Shakir Makrani, in connection with an extortion attempt targeting Big Boss OTT 2 winner, Elvish Yadav. The YouTuber, who hails from Gurugram, took action after receiving alarming WhatsApp messages demanding an initial sum of ₹40 lakh, followed by a staggering ₹1 crore.
Elvish Yadav, who rose to fame with his YouTube channels boasting 14.5 and 4.75 million subscribers, recently secured the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner’s trophy. Notably, he achieved this remarkable feat as a wildcard contestant, making history and earning a prize of ₹25 lakh.
The extortion plot took a surprising turn when Shakir Makrani’s motives were unveiled. According to ACP Crime Branch Varun Dahiya, Gurugram Police, Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar, sought to earn money by resorting to extortion calls. The investigation revealed that he was influenced by Elvish Yadav.
Elvish Yadav, who had contemplated giving up his Bigg Boss winner’s trophy due to negative publicity, made his stance clear in a vlog. He expressed, “Kuch nahi chahiye, zindagi kya hi ho rakhi hai bhai (I do not want all this, what has my life turned into)! All I want is peace, and a love-filled life that I had before Bigg Boss. This trophy says ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner,’ and I am that (the winner), on record. But if you want, please take this trophy and the stuff. I have seen so many things I do not want to even mention. I just came home after so many days, for just a few days. I don’t want this negativity in life. I am happy with my work and I want to earn money. I need to complete my new house, and shift there, and buy new property and cars. I don’t want to put my head into all these online matters. If you want this trophy, text me; I will send it. I am done with all this now.”
Elvish Yadav’s popularity continues to soar, and his recent encounter with extortion has shed light on the challenges of being in the public eye. With Shakir Makrani now in police custody, the investigation into this case unfolds, while Elvish strives to maintain his peace and focus on his career.
