During the G20 Summit, around 400 professionally trained police officers will be stationed at 21 places in Delhi as part of complex security procedures and to provide a smooth and efficient travel experience for international participants.
According to The Indian Express, the specially trained cops will be stationed at Kashmere Gate ISBT, Akshardham, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Red Fort (Chandni Chowk area), and other locations.
To help international delegates, these officers will be stationed at railway stations, ISBTs, airport terminals, and prominent market places. According to the article, the staff will use newly acquired Bolero vehicles for the purpose.
In order to help visitors, tourists, and delegates to the city during the G20 Summit in the city, L-G VK Saxena gave instructions in April to put in place specifically tasked and trained Delhi Police personnel.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the G20 Summit next month, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has deployed suction-cum-jetting machines on the city’s 35 roads, including the Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Panchsheel Marg, and Mandir Marg, according to an official statement issued Saturday (August 26), reported the news agency PTI.
According to the statement, the local body has asked nodal officers to ensure daily monitoring of work on these 35 roads. Every day, the nodal officers would submit a report to the headquarters.
According to the report, among the 35 roads identified are the Sachivalaya Road, Old Fort Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, Mahatma Gandhi Road (from Shanti Van to AIIMS and Shanti Van to Delhi University), Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Vivekananda Marg, Africa Avenue, and 13 Panchsheel Marg.
The MCD is working to beautify and decorate the national capital in preparation for the forthcoming G20 Summit, which is slated to take place from September 9 to September 10.
