Two days prior to the G20 conference in New Delhi, US President Joe Biden will arrive in India on September 7 to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8. September 9 and 10 are designated as the days of the G20 Leaders Summit.
The transition to sustainable energy, climate change, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and improving the ability of multilateral development banks, notably the World Bank, to better combat poverty, among other themes, are all on the agenda for the G20 meeting.
The White House released a statement saying that while in New Delhi, President Biden “will also commend Prime Minister Modi’s leadership of the G20 and reaffirm the US commitment to the G20 as the premier forum of economic cooperation, including by hosting it in 2026.”
On September 10, the US president will fly from India to Hanoi, Vietnam, where he will meet with Vietnam General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
