The Delhi Police Department is preparing for the next G20 Summit by developing a comprehensive traffic strategy and tackling garbage vulnerable sites (GVPs) in respective zones. Within two weeks, the municipal corporation will also locate and sanitise these points.
According to Special CP Surender Singh Yadav, a thorough plan is in place to guarantee efficient vehicular traffic and avoid any interruptions to crucial services.
A special helpline from the Ambulance Assistance Control Room will be available, and ambulance services will be available everywhere. Ambulances will be celebrated by special bike riders, and necessities will be delivered smoothly. Borders, railroads, and three-seater auto rickshaws will all be subject to entry restrictions.
All central government offices in Delhi would be closed from September 8 to September 10, 2023, as a result of the city hosting the G20 Summit, according to the Personnel Ministry. The event’s size and the logistical considerations required led to the closure.
Banks and financial institutions in New Delhi will be closed from September 8 to 10 as a result of the closure of the area, which is regarded as the national capital’s beating heart and is the location of most banks’ main headquarters in Connaught Place as well as high-ranking government officials, ministers, and VIPs.
Several markets, including Connaught Place, Khan Market, Malcha Marg, Shankar Market, Janpath, Mohan Singh Place, and Palika Bazar, would be shuttered for three days, according to Delhi Police personnel. Banks, restaurants, market associations, traders, and other businesses will be informed by the administration to remain closed.
The General Administration Department (GAD) of the Delhi government announced that all educational institutions, as well as public and commercial offices, will be closed for these three days.
According to officials, the hospitals, drug stores, and milk stands in the New Delhi police district would all stay open.
According to an official of the excise department, independent bars and the sale of alcohol at restaurants in New Delhi are likely to be restricted during this time, along with all retail liquor stores in the New Delhi police district remaining closed. Hotels’ bars and dining establishments will carry on as usual.
According to Amit Gupta, a member of the New Delhi Traders Association executive committee, Connaught Place merchants are anticipating hosting the G20 dignitaries.
“The foreign visitors would have loved the unique products across categories,” he continued, “had the shops been open.”
