First lab in Uttar Pradesh under FutureSkill PRIME Project of MeitY

Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Shri S Krishnan (IAS) inaugurated Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab in NIELIT Gorakhpur on 16th October 2023 during 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT.

The state-of-art RPA lab has been built under the Future Skill PRIME Project funded by MeitY with an objective to upskill/reskill manpower in emerging technology of RPA. This is the First-of-its-kind lab in Uttar Pradesh under FutureSkill PRIME Project, which has been established to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.

The Secretary, MeitY said that this state-of the-art RPA lab is going to play a pivotal role in transforming India into a global technology powerhouse. He also emphasized the role of RPA in improving services to citizens by automating repetitive, manual processes such as data entry and verification, thereby reducing clerical errors and response time.

He further emphasized the role of NIELIT in bridging the gap between formal and non-formal digital skilling and suggested that NIELIT- should continue to work to skill the youth of Uttar Pradesh to create skilled manpower for local industries as well as global companies. He highlighted the importance of skilling for manufacturing sector especially in Industry 4.0 by NIELIT and supported the intervention of NIELIT in creating local entrepreneurs through digital skilling.

The two-day long 26th All India Director’s Meet of NIELIT held on 16th & 17th October, 2023 at the NIELIT Centre Gorakhpur and was addressed by Shri S Krishnan (IAS), Secretary, MeitY.  The Meeting was attended by all the Executive Directors, Directors and Director In-Charges of all the 49 NIELIT Centres across the India. The objective of Directors Meet is to harness the capabilities and resources available with the Centres & to bring collective efforts and plans towards addressing digital skilling needs of the country.

While addressing the Director’s Meet, Economic Advisor, MeitY, Shri Kuntal Sensarma appreciated the efforts of NIELIT and its role in the field of skill development in IT and Electronics through its skill-based courses and non-formal courses and keeping pace with the latest advancements in technologies and its role in North Eastern region and tough areas.

Prof Poonam Tandon, VC of DDU Gorakhpur, and Dr M M Tripathi, DG of NIELIT, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct employment-oriented courses and training in future skill technology in the Gorakhpur region.

This alliance will benefit over 350+ colleges and 3 lakhs candidates, offering internships and programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the IECT sector. Skilling in Purvanchal’s economically weaker youth will boost their employability. DDU plans online programs, while NIELIT will help students and faculty learn in an international standard environment.

Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, stated that NIELIT caters to the training, consultancy, design, and product development needs of IECT industries and allied sectors. Smt Anuj Malik, CEO of Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), shared an Expression of Interest (EOI) with Dr D K Mishra, Director of NIELIT Gorakhpur, for setting up a Skill Centre in GIDA.

The facility will focus on technical education, skill development, and employment opportunities, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurship by nurturing start-ups.
