Veteran Kannada Actor Bank Janardhan Passes Away at 79

Veteran Kannada actor Bank Janardhan passed away in the early hours of April 14 at a private hospital in Bengaluru. The 79-year-old actor had been battling a prolonged illness and was admitted with multi-organ complications. He reportedly passed away around 2:30 am after his condition worsened.

Bank Janardhan was widely celebrated for his comic timing and impactful character roles, having acted in over 500 films. Some of his most notable performances were in films like Shhh!Tarle Nan MagaGanesh Subrahmanya, and Kaurava. He also had a strong presence on the small screen, earning a loyal fanbase through television serials such as Papa PanduJokali, and Robo Family. Janardhan was actively involved in theatre, particularly through the Poshaka Kalavidha Sangha, contributing to numerous plays and stage productions.

Born in 1948 in Sulthanpalya, Bengaluru, he was known for his unique dialogue delivery and memorable performances. Although he recovered from a heart attack in 2023, age-related complications led to his recent hospitalization. His body will be kept at his Sulthanpalya residence for public homage until 5:30 pm today.
