Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who passed away on April 4 at the age of 87 after a prolonged illness, will be accorded a state funeral. The cremation is scheduled for 11:30 am today at Pawan Hans Crematorium.
Preparations are underway at the late actor’s residence as family and members of the film fraternity prepare to bid their final farewell. Visuals showed relatives and staff arranging floral tributes, and an ambulance decorated with tricolour flowers — symbolising the national flag — ready to carry his mortal remains. His son, Kunal Goswami, confirmed the news of his passing and noted that his father departed peacefully.
Fondly known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his iconic patriotic roles, Manoj Kumar left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. His legacy includes several acclaimed films such as Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti, and Roti, Kapada Aur Makaan. Over the course of his career, he was honoured with the National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards, solidifying his place as a beloved figure in Hindi film history.
