In the near future, will Delhi-San Francisco and Tokyo-Delhi take less than an hour? Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and the creator of rocket manufacturing business SpaceX, may be able to make this a reality with a breakthrough earth-to-earth spaceship that can transport people anywhere in the world in an hour or less.
While this may appear unbelievable or farfetched, the idea gained social media attention when a user received a response from Elon Musk on a video he shared of the earth-to-earth concept on social media platform X (formerly Twitter and now owned by Musk), which showed how the spacecraft would carry out the ambitious plan.

The post speculated that the project could receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval during a potential second administration of US President-elect Donald Trump, who won the presidential election recently.
Notably, Elon Musk is set to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Vivek Ramaswamy.
Earth-to-Earth or interplanetary travel is a notion that SpaceX’s Starship spaceship aspires to achieve. According to the SpaceX website, the Starship spaceship and Super Heavy rocket, jointly known as Starship, constitute a completely reusable transportation system designed to deliver both passengers and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
SpaceX says that Starship, the world’s most powerful launch vehicle yet created, will be able to carry up to 100 people on long-duration interplanetary missions, as well as “enable satellite delivery, the development of a Moon base, and point-to-point transport here on Earth.”
According to the video Musk reacted to, Starship will be able to transport people from Los Angeles to Toronto in 24 minutes, London to New York in 29 minutes, Delhi to San Francisco in 30 minutes, Tokyo to Delhi in 30 minutes, and New York to Shanghai in 39 minutes.
Elon Musk is a billionaire who, in addition to SpaceX, cofounded seven other companies, including Tesla and xAI. According to Forbes, he is now the world’s richest person.
