Delhi University’s student union elections are scheduled on September 27th, with distinct slots for morning and evening batches. According to the university’s timetable, applicants’ nomination papers and affidavits can be filed by 3 p.m. on September 17.
The scrutiny of nominations and publishing of the list of nominated candidates will occur on the same day. The candidates can withdraw their candidacy until 12 p.m. on September 18.
The Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) polls will be held between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. for morning batches and between 3 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. for evening classes, according to a university notice.
The ballots will be tallied on September 28 at the Police Line on the North campus. “The prescribed nomination papers for office bearers of DUSU are to be put in a sealed box kept in the office of the chief election officer, DUSU Elections 2024-25, from 10 am to 5 pm on any working day,” according to the announcement.
Last year, Tushar Dedha was chosen as DUSU president, Sachin Baisla as joint secretary, and Aparajita as secretary. They are all members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Abhi Dahiya of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) was chosen as vice-president.
According to DU’s notification dated August 29, Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh in his capacity as patron of the DU Students Union Constitution appointed Satyapal Singh from the Department of Sanskrit as the Chief Election Officer; Raj Kishore Sharma from the Department of Chemistry as the Chief Returning officer; and Dr Rajesh Singh, the university librarian as the Returning Officer for the DUSU elections 2024-25.
