Professor Rekha Saxena has taken charge as the head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Delhi (DU). The Department oversees the political science curriculum in over 60 DU colleges. She is an alumna of Hindu College and has been associated with DU for over four decades. She began her teaching career at St Stephen’s College.
Additionally, Professor Saxena is the honorary senior advisor at the Forum of Federations in Ottawa and vice-chairperson of the Centre for Multilevel Federalism in New Delhi. Her expertise in federalism and intergovernmental relations is well-established, and she has authored a wealth of academic articles and over a dozen books.
Professor Saxena received a PhD in Political Science from DU in 2002 on the topic ‘Intergovernmental Agencies in Federal Systems: A Comparative Study of Canada and India.’ She pursued an MPhil in Political Science in 1993; her dissertation topic was ‘Changing Nature of the Party System in India.’
