Dr. Jitendra Singh Emphasizes Strong Public-Private Partnership for Affordable Clean Energy Solutions at CEM-14 MI-8 Meeting

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, called for affordable clean energy solutions and emphasized the need for strong public-private partnerships. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to clean energy solutions. CEIIC, established in 2018, has incubated 45 start-ups and filed 35 patents.

10 have commercialized their products, and a few have raised over Rs. 20 crore funds. CEIIC is a first-of-its-kind International Incubation Centre jointly established by DBT/BIRAC, Tata Trust & Tata Power in 2018 under the Mission Innovation multilateral program.

It supports a wide spectrum of clean energy innovations aligned with MI objectives, providing access to advanced labs, equipment, a pool of experts and mentors, live test beds, pilot opportunities, seed fund support, and scale-up investments.

CEIIC incubated Start-Up ‘Takachar’ and was named the GBP 1 million Earth Shot prize winner for its technological innovation. The Clean Energy Incubator has launched three Tectonic calls for applications to identify and create a pipeline of entrepreneurs and start-ups, showcasing the government’s commitment to work with industry and international partners to encourage clean energy innovations.

The successful PPP model can serve to tackle global challenges in other fields, creating environment-friendly, affordable, and scalable solutions for a sustainable future. India is looking forward to connecting with other partners for scaling up innovations by start-ups.
